Just a Light!
OralID is a battery-operated, hand-held oral exam light that is used to help our doctor see any irregularities in your mouth that might indicate oral cancer or pre-cancer. There are no rinses and no dyes involved in using OralID. It’s as simple as shining a flashlight into your mouth. It uses an optically based technology called “fluorescence technology,” which uses a blue light to illuminate the inside of your mouth. When that blue light
shines on healthy, normal tissue in your teeth and gums,
it will turn green. However, any unhealthy or abnormal
tissue will have a lack of
fluorescence, so those areas will appear dark to your
dentist. OralID can help us catch and diagnose cancer in the early stages,
so that you can begin treatment as quickly as possible and regain your healthy smile!
