as this ever happened to you? You wake up in the morning and when you look in the mirror say, “This is the day!” It becomes the day when you
finally decide to do something about your looks.
I guess I’ve hit the age when I look in the mirror, I see Pat Morita, the actor who played Mr. Miyagi in The Ka- rate Kid movies. I should audition for a part in Cobra Kai where maybe I could play Mr. Miyagi’s long-lost younger
brother from Okinawa.
But, I digress. Actually, I’ve been seeing these TV com-
mercials for a cream that instantly takes away bags from under your eyes. I mean it must work, as they apply it on a guy (paid actor) and “presto!” the bags are gone.
And how about those laser baseball caps that help to reduce thinning hair? I’m sorry, but the before and after photos for that commercial aren’t very compelling. At least get a famous spokesperson to pitch the product, like base- ball’s Frank Thomas and football’s Doug Flutie to push a testosterone booster. I’m waiting for Tom Brady to endorse something, because whatever he’s using works!
I really get raring to go when Marie Osmond tells me, “I got you,” and will help me lose weight with Weight Watchers meals for men. I get the feeling it’s the same thing the women eat, but in the proportions that they eat on a first date.
I simply set my mind to do something really obtainable. I decided to whiten my teeth. So, on my last visit to my Windward dentist, I asked his wife and dental assistant if any of these teeth whiteners really worked. “Absolutely,” she replied and explained how the one they use works.
They fit you with a plastic tray (kind of like those clear braces), then inject this clear paste into the tray for the teeth you want to whiten. You wear them overnight while you sleep and when you get up in the morning, you have pearly white teeth. I had concerns, but decided to move forward with the treatment.
That evening, I excitedly explained to my wife and daughter about the treatment and they seemed relatively amused. I told them I was supposed to sleep with the tray in my mouth overnight, but said I was hesitant to do it for fear of choking in my sleep. I added that I could do it during the day, but then I couldn’t talk to them for about eight hours.
They looked at each other as if they discovered the cure for COVID and said, “You go ahead and do it during the day. We can suffer for eight hours if it will make you happy.”
