 Program Fuels Up, Fosters Good
Joy Madriaga (left) from Hawai‘i Petroleum presents a check
to Michele Carvalho from East Hawai‘i Community Liaison on behalf of the program “Fuel Up. Do Good.” ‘Ohana Fuels donated the nearly $7,000 check to Project Pilina, a program of Partners
in Develop Foundation, which focuses on sourcing foster care families. It will aid East Hawai‘i high school students in foster care to purchase caps and gowns, prom attire and any additional self- care essential items needed. Funds will also go toward distributing meal gift cards for foster homes to host a welcome dinner for newly placed youth. PHOTO COURTESY ‘OHANA FUELS
No doubt, you have been hearing about AI advancements and how they are transforming the world. Due to my long-standing interest, I have a deeper under- standing than most. Currently, the situation is con- fusing and chaotic, making it difficult to envision precisely how it will change our lives. What I can tell you is that AI is not merely another “disruptive technology” like social media or smartphones. It
goes far beyond that, as it will not only alter our civilization but will redefine humanity itself.
AI And Our Humanity
             Alice Inoue
As such, I believe it is crucial for all of us to ask ourselves this: How can you preserve your humanity as AI intertwines more with our lives? What does it mean to be human? To me, I say hold on to and savor the human moments. Make friends. Create memories. Care for one another. And be kind to each other, always.
